The beginnings
After brilliant studies at ENCI (National School of Industrial Creation), Christian Ghion founded his own studio at the age of 28 and was rapidly involved in many projects.
His talent was quickly recognized. In 1991, he received the Grand Prize of Creation of the City of Paris.
During the 2000s, he created scenographies for numerous exhibitions, at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Musée de la Poste, the Cartier Foundation, the Saint-Etienne Design Biennale, and the prestigious exhibition “Le Luxe Français“ organized by the Comité Colbert in Shanghai in 2005.
At the same time, he designed a ministerial office for the Mobilier National, a new version of the Laguiole knife, the design of Pierre Gagnaire’s restaurants, and a monumental sculpture for the city of Seoul.
Christian Ghion’s work is presented in the collections of the National Fund of Contemporary Art, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
In 2014, the city of Aix-en-Provence entrusted him with the design of the largest water wall in Europe that covers the Juvénal-Mozart bridge.
Distinctions
In 2006, Christian Ghion became a Knight of Arts and Letters.
