en attendant les barbares four decades of design

Anne Bony’s book traces the history of the gallery En Attendant les Barbares, from its flamboyant beginnings in the early 1980s to the present day. The “style barbare” is a decorative movement whose influence is still felt, and some designers, such as Garouste & Bonetti, have become sure values on the art market.

Collaboration with top quality craftsmen, rehabilitation of materials such as wrought iron, bronze and gold leaf, poetic inspiration, limited series editions and above all, the shift from design to an artistic approach, all the ingredients of very contemporary “collectible design” are brought together.
And it has been for four decades.
