News & Press Releases
A selection of recent press features highlighting Galerie En Attendant les Barbares, regularly showcased in leading media dedicated to contemporary design, art furniture, and French decorative arts.
The gallery is widely recognized for its artistic excellence and its long‑standing collaborations with iconic designers. In the early 1980s, it discovered and launched the designer duo Garouste & Bonetti, of whom it remains the main editor today—whether for limited‑edition pieces or bespoke creations. It was also the first gallery to publish the works of Eric Schmitt, later dedicating his first solo exhibition in 1990. The gallery continues to edit and promote a diverse range of talents, including Olivier Gagnère, Andrée Putman, as well as Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti individually.
The current exhibition, “Poetic Design” by Mattia Bonetti, has drawn significant media attention for the originality of its creations and the exceptional quality of their craftsmanship and finishes.
En Attendant Les Barbares also highlights fine artistic craftsmanship, working with exceptional artisans such as the exclusive ironworker who collaborated with Diego Giacometti, and the Bocquel foundry, renowned for casting works by César, Arman, and Gérard Garouste.
Below is a curated selection of articles and reports illustrating the gallery’s influence on the French design scene for more than four decades.
